Dr. Jason Starr

Dr. Jason Starr grew up in South Florida and made his way throughout the state for undergraduate (UCF) and medical school (LECOM-Bradenton) training. He then landed at Mayo Clinic for both his residency and fellowship training. After that he left the Mayo nest for 4 years, only to come back in 2018. Currently he is a consultant and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the division of Hematology/Oncology, specializing in gastrointestinal malignancies. Outside of his professional career, he is thankful for the love of his life, Raena, who is fiercely loyal and a constant source of support and love. Beyond anything else, he is most proud of being a Dad to two precious boys, Eli (8) and Ezra (5). His family is his heartbeat, and he tries not to miss a moment them. In his personal/"free" time, he enjoys high intensity exercise, cycling, and self-reflection. He has no experience with formal dancing, although in college he was dragged into multiple group dance competitions by his friends and was known for a select number of dance "moves". He is excited to participate in this event as an opportunity to honor Maya Dronca, her legacy and spirit.
