Dr. Michele D. Lewis, MD, MMSc, FACP

Dr. Michele Lewis is originally from South Carolina and completed medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1993. She completed residency in internal medicine at the University of Florida and was selected as a chief resident. She completed her fellowship in Gastroenterology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and her Master’s degree in medical science from Harvard University. She has been a faculty member at Mayo Clinic Florida in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology for 24 years.

Dr. Lewis is the Associate Dean for Admissions of the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. She is a former Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency and was awarded Program Director of the Year at Mayo Clinic in 2017. She received the Distinguished Educator Award at Mayo Clinic in 2018, and says teaching and mentoring the next generation of physicians and recruiting top young physicians to Mayo Clinic is her passion. She lives in Atlantic Beach, Florida with her husband, Todd. She has two daughters, one in law school at the University of Michigan and one in college at the University of Arizona.
